Minnesota Bill Seeks To Obstruct Law-Abiding Hunters

A new bill in Minnesota would require all hunters to undergo a background check when purchasing a hunting license. SF 781 would require a background check to determine if the purchaser was ineligible to posses a firearm. Obviously, criminals who are going to violate the law by possessing a gun aren`t going to bother to buy a hunting license, only law abiding citizens would be impacted by this legislation. Call your Senator and respectfully urge him/her to oppose this attempt to scare and obstruct law-abiding hunters. Well, I dunno,
Consider this scenario. Billy Bob Hayseed gets caught growning half an acre of Mary Jane on the back side of his mountain holler. He's busted for a felony. 'Does his time. Well, in that country, hunting is not only a tradition, it's how he EATS. So, he goes for a hunting license, just to be clean...BUSTED again! OK, I know that felons can never again own (have in possesion) a gun, but, well, I dunno. :?

I wonder how bow hunters figure into this? I'm not into archery myself, but I have several friends who are. Just because you're filing for a hunting liscense doesn't mean that you will be using a gun.

The moron that introduced this bill, Democrat Wes Skoglund, is from Minneapolis (a whole lot of hunting going on down on Hennepin Avenue, you know), and is just grandstanding, playing on the fears generated by the Katio Poirier killing in 1999. He claims that if his bill had been law then, she would still be alive today.
