22 bull vs. octagon

Are the 10" 22 octagon barrels less acurate than the 10" bull barrels assuming they are shot off a bench at reasonable distances?

I personally doubt that the exterior of any barrel would make it more or less accurate .. of course I don't believe that accuracy (of the Barrel) is affected by length... for what it is worth heavier barrels "lay" on target better and recoil less, but for me I like my octagon .22 better than the bull bbl in .22 LR I got rid of... I shoot sillywets, and I got a beautiful low-serial # Contender with an octagonal .22 barrel from a guy that swore he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it. (He couldn't.) He traded me the WHOLE GUN for a 10" Bull .22 which he put on a different frame and proceeded to continue to shoot just as poorly as before. Me on the other hand, got the best shooting .22 I've ever had, and started shooting the highest scores on SmallBore and Field Pistol of my life. I've heard some say they like the added weight of the bull barrel for competitive shooting, but I'm guessing that the Octagonal .22 weighs about as much as anyone really needs or wants.

Lots of cheap used Octagonal barrels out there too, in all kinds of fun calibers.

You may notice a difference if you shoot fast and start to overheat them.  That's a lot of shooting.  Doubtful you could ever find a difference otherwise.

If you have an octagon one lined up, and don't want it, let me know.

I don't know if you can shoot a .22 fast enough to overheat it.  I can run three clips thru my Buckmark as fast as I can pull the trigger and the barrel is barely warm.  It shoots lots faster than I can cycle my Contender.  With the rimfires I wouldn't be afraid of any barrel.

Piggy backing questions on an old thread here, but didn't want to create excess.

Are all 10" 22lr barrels either octagon or bull?  No tapered 10" round barrel?  Do the 10" 22lr bull barrels fit fine in the early T/C leather holsters?

Thanks for helping!
