I just bought a mossberg 835 used. The man bought it new last year, it is all camo[realtree hardwoods] it has a 24" ported barrel and a true-glow ported choke tube. I need some help with choke tube and shot size for the gun. Does anyone shoot the heavy shot in this brute, if so what size and what choke MFG. and size. Thanks ya'll
Did you get any screw-in chokes with your gun?....There should have been a set of 3 chokes (M, IC, F) included with the barrel. Do not shoot the gun w/o a choke installed otherwise you could damage the barrel threads.
For turkey, pick up some turkey head pattern targets and some turkey shells and try out the tru-glo full choke for the head/neck region of the target at say about 25-30 yds. If you're not satisfied with the full choke then go to a dealer and see about purchasing an extra full choke like the Hastings extended that I picked up for my Grandson's 20ga. M500.
Good Luck and remember different shells will give different pattern results.
