Scope Ring question
« on: February 17, 2005, 01:11:51 PM »
Hello everyone. Last fall I bought an H&R Ultra Varmint in 223 rem.. I  also bought a Bushnell 3-9 40mm scope, and high weaver rings. I am going to get a Bushnell 6-18 50mm to put on this gun. Will the high rings still work, or do I need to get the extra high rings? I thought that someone here might have this set up and could help me out here. I'm ordering the scope from Midway USA.  TIA

Best, Irv

Irv,,,,,I've got a Swift 8-32x50 on my 243 Ultra with plenty of hammer space with the same rings you're planning on using.  But then my 223 Handi also with a Swift 4-12x40 and the same rings,,I needed to grind a bit off the hammer to get a millimeter clearance.
So it may be the placement and the build of the Bushnell for your personal eye relief as to whether you have clearance or not.

I have a Bushnell 6x18x50 on my Ultra 243 and I used the extra high weaver mounts, you might be able to squeak by with the high mounts, but I doubt it.

Well, I've ordered the extra high rings along with the scope, just to be on the safe side. If I didn't get 'em, I'd need 'em for sure. Murphies law, you know. Thanks guys.
