Has anyone heard of the bolts cracking on these rifles other than the one reported on Rimfire Central (than one was modified and had a new barrel installed prior to cracking) and the other on Benchrest Rimfire that was new and no modification.
Mine was purchased new in 1998, #9013xx and before Beretta got to have anything to do with them.
Thanks for any enlightenment

I've hear a rumor of one other bolt cracking, but can't confirm it. I do know that my varmint bolt closes very hard, but there is no sign of a crack that I can see. Upon inspection of the bolt, I can see how the weakest point is the root of the bolt. If they had just machined a slight radius there that would eliminate any real chance of a crack, but I think it's a very rare occurance. People like to expoit every situation, but I really think the crack is a very limited problem. Hopefully Beretta/Sako will get the fellow taken care of without a hassle. They're sure had some hard times lately.

Thanks.
I have a feeling that it is a rare problem. It may be that the bolts that crack are installed in rifles that have min headspace and the bolt is being crush fit to the barrel. I haven't fired mine all that much as I have some other models that I use also.
I remember that Remington shotguns had a barrel problem about 12-15 years ago and were made to pay, however, as far as I know it only happened to 1 and that may have been due to a barrel obstruction.
