Does anyone shoot with a 16" or longer barrel in a pistol configuration?  Is shooting with an 18" barrel much different than shooting with a 14" barrel?

Have a 16 1/4" .221 FB that is best shot off a rest...unless of course the shooter has better off hand skills than I. Makes a nice little carbine too !

I've got a FRO 18" 6mmTCU that I shoot w/ a large wide forend and bipod.  It is a little more cumbersome but you get used to it pretty quick.  I carry with a sling anyway, so it really doesn't bother me there.  Sure does shoot good.  I also shoot a 16 1/4" 22lr and a 22mag.  The neat thing about them is you can put on a scope with see thru rings and still use the open sights.  I put a rifle scope on both and with the small caliber I can shoot either way ( pistol or carbine ) with either sight I choose.  Really makes a versatile rig.  GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt   :)  :)  :)

I have an 18" full bull custom shop Encore barrel in 450 marlin. I have shot it both ways, pistol and rifle, and I prefer it in a pistol configuration.  KN

Since the 16's are tapered they do not feel much different than the 14's to me.  I shoot skeet with a 16" 45/410 barrel, or should I say I try to shoot skeet with it.  Some days are pretty good though.

My favorite barrel is my Super 16 45-70 Gov't. Another favorite is a 16" 22 Hornet that is fun to shoot varmints with. Both guns/barrels shoot well with a good rest like the Storey Point Pole Cat.

In addition, if you're doing something like prarie dog shooting, use a day pack stuffed with something to make it puffy. Works very well.

Okay Hopalong, I'll bite. How are ya mounting a scope on a T/C, and retaining the rear sight???  :)  :-D

Bug, The 16 /1/4's are drilled and tapped for a scope mount at the rear of the barrel just like the other lengths, but the rear open sight is mounted further up the barrel leaving just enough room behind it for a weaver mount to fit.  21" carbine barrels are the same.GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt  :-)
