My name is Adam Wysocki I am 16 years old and I live in Central Illinois about an hour north of Peoria. I have trapped with my father for about five years and this was my first year flying solo and I was pretty happy with the results. I have always been an avid coon trapper because that seemed to be the only thing I was able to trap. But after trying some new things this year I have found the joy of trapping beaver and mink and even muskrat. I havent worked my way up to canines yet but I plan on it next year. I am still very interested in this forum and hope to see it stay alive.
Season Starts November 5th!!!

I am 54 and live in Alaska, my family and I live at our remote homestead; however the last two years we have had to live in town.   We hope to be back home soon. While living in the bush a large part of our income is from trapping. Since living in town I've not been out, I have to say town living is a drag. I can't remember the last time we had a good roasted beaver. :bye:

I find trap'n VERY challenging. You have to be on your toes all the time.Hell I almost got killed on the trap line last year.Today wern't no picnic eather. My pard,Clint and I got plum drenched going across some big water this afternoon.Every other wave was brak'n over the bow.
Trap' is a hard way to make a liv'n, Or should I say try to make a living.
I'v been trap'n about 47 years.Started on rats. In South Jeresy rats were KING during the fur boom.
I make my home in Port Republic NJ a small coastal town on the edge of the Pine Barrens. It was founded in 1637.I also spend a lot of time at my place in NC .I might add not a enough time,to my liking.
 HOW OLD am I ?
 Well glad you asked !!!!
Feburay 21 I'll be 54. SEND PRESENTS , a 18 year old ninfo will do.

This here is like one of them introduce yourself to an AA meeting dealys (now this is word of mouth on the meetings).

I'm older than Newt and younger than RdFx unless he started trappin when he was still nursing.

I do private coyote control trapping and manage a cat or two every year.  My line covers around 350 to 450 sections in north western - north central NM.

Currently I'm the NTA director for the state and I'd rather snare an anti than talk to em.

And I think Boggy is a hippie!

I live in northwestern Minnesota.  Right now the critters I trap for fun are fisher and otter.  Going to crank up on cats one of these days but dont quite live in good cat habitat.  By far my big number animal is beaver.

In six days i will be 35, so save some presents for me.

I aint trapping much at the moment.  Too busy chasing them walleyes around

What I enjoy most about trapping; matching wits with the animals.  All my life I've been matching wits with one thing or another.   I think my lessons learned on the trapline was a kid served me well in my professional life, which will probably be ending soon.

I currently live in Middletown, Pa.   I am 58 years old have have completed my 50th year on the trapline.   I was just a little fella when I started.

My name is Darrell Gogert, I live in north western Nevada, I am 32 years old, I have been trapping for 4 years on my own, I trapped with my father for lots of years before that. I have been calling coyotes for a long time as well. The thing I love most about trapping is the excitement that I get every time I walk up to my set and get butterflies in my stomach because I know I have a chance at catching something, but you never know what it might be.  Kind of the same thing as buck fever.  I think this is what keeps us coming back each year. I trap mainly for bobcats, and run a fairly long line. I drive about 150-220 miles a week checking traps. our fur sale is friday the 25th of feb.
 My catch this year is:
10 Bobcats            Should average $300.00
20 Coyote             "           "          $20.00
10 Kit fox              "           "          $10.00
3 Badger               "           "          $10.00

My name is Scott Balts ... I live in NE Minnesota (Beaver Country)
I have been trapping for 20 years this year,  started with two old traps set in cubbies on the way down the Swamp trail to hunt ducks... came back up the trail and had a Jumbo coon ($40 bucks) back-in-the-day!
Met Merlin ladd the next week and expanded into Beaver with 3 borrowed 330's  with Merlin explaining what  beaver sign looked like over the phone!   Next day had 2 beavers...

Trapping for me is a like a lot of people have said already... Butterflies!!!, you never know what's next...

I like to trap Beaver the most, also Otter, Coon, mink, fisher...and Next year Bobcat's  ...  I buy Way too many traps, spend way too much on Gear... and make Gas $ back with enough left for some more Cool Traps each year... I also help the DNR with private owner Beavere issues.

I found this site last week from a link on another trapping site

I'm 23 years old and live in the foothills of the 'Dacks here in NY.  I've been trapping for about 3 years, I started WAY too late and am trying to make up for lost time.  My favorite animals to catch are fisher, coyotes, and bobcats.  I've been fortunate enough to travel to MS to trap the past two winters, what a great experience!

I'm interested in the site, just been sort of busy lately and haven't had much time to surf or read up in here. I have learned an awful lot from many of the member postings on this site, and I plan to keep learning by viewing posts and being active, when possible.
Please count me in the roll call.
I live in Hickman, NE (Southeast corner of state)
I am 39.
I trap a wide variety of species, and at this time enjoy all of them but am leaning toward muskrats and mink if I were pushed to say my preferences.
I love trapping small farm ponds, and wide-open grazed pasture sections with a few cedar trees in them (have mostly no "bird" cover) for predators.

Being raised in a consummate professional trapping family, trapping has been part of my everyday life for 63 years.  Trapping timber wolves, coyotes, bobcats and fox for bounty is how I started out so have always continued to favor land trapping  over water trapping.  I have also trapped a lot of mink over the years and trapped weasel and muskrat big time when I was growing up. I live in Michigan's upper peninsula.  Asa Lenon

:D Now that it's almost the off season have time to follow the forums again,
Been dealing with Boggy and ol' RdFx for a few years....been trapping since I was a little kid and will hit 54 a couple days behind Newt. Hard to say which type of trapping I prefer but at present lean towards water trapping. Trapping is just part of the total outdoors experience for me....I spend as much time as possible out and about, just watching and learning. I enjoy teaching my trapper's ed classes and in general just trying to open people's eyes to what's going on about them.
If I had to really pick my favorite critters I'd have to say rats and otter.... I love studying otter and with only one tag per season in WI they are not a big ticket item. I do a few hundred rats per year and manage a couple marshes for fur and other wildlife.
Hang in there Boggy.....

My name is Mike Lanum, live in southeastern Ohio, been trapping since I was 12 or 13. The only time I didn't trap was when I was in the army for 3 years. That was a long time ago, almost 30 years. My dad who trapped when he was a kid, taught me how to trap muskrats. He bought my brother and me a dozen victor #1's and showed us what he knew about it. For a long time all I trapped was muskrats, but soon learned to trap coon and possum, lots of possum. I read a lot of fur fish game magazines and learned to eventually catch fox. Only in the last few years have I caught coyote and now seem to have better luck catching more of them than fox. I never trapped beaver until I moved to southern Ohio along the Hocking river. Coon  has always been my favorite critter to trap, but  now I would have to say its a toss up between beaver and coyotes with beaver having to be my favorite if I had to choose between the two. I'll be 42 in march and look forward to trapping for another 40 years if possible. Worm
P.S. This is a great site, hope its around for 40 more years as well.

hi my name is Gregg i am 26 years old.  i live in upstate NY near the adirondack park.  we have most types of furbearers here and i pursue all of them but the otter is the animal that i love to chase more than anything.  I find them a challenging, elusive, and most beautiful animal.  before things are said and done for the season i usually average 350-450 animals.  i would like to do more trapping but a full time job prevents this and i find myself being a weekend warrior.  thanks n good luck.

I am 23, I live in Bend Oregon, I trap mostly cats and coyotes, I have been going on trap lines with my dad since I started walking. I have only been trapping seriously for about 8 years but have been setting traps since I was strong enough to compress the springs.

I come to this site on almost a daily basis. I do not post here much because there is not much action here. If I did make a new post I would recive less coments here than on other boards. If more new posts showed up I would post more, plain and simple.

I'm Bill, I'm 36 years young, and I have been trapping for 6 years as far as fur trapping, and 14 years of farm trapping. I Focus primarily on mink, but enjoy a good canine line as well. The farm trapping has been for raccoons, and that's what spurred my interest in the rest.

I'm 36 and I live in Eastern Nebraska.  Started trapping when it was profitable, running the line with my grandfather when I was a kid in the 70's.   I like all the pursuit of all furbearers (including calling them), but if I had to pick one it would be bobcats.
