A terrible thing happened
« on: February 18, 2005, 03:35:06 PM »
I terrible I know, I was in a pawn shop yesterday,and low and behold there was a rifle that caught my eye. The bad thing about it was it was not a Handi,it was a Marlin 444S with the barrel cut back to 16.25",a homemade guide gun. It had a $189 price tag on it,and I was having a very weak moment at the time.So I asked what he would take for it out the door,and he replied $180. So now I have 2 444's , 445,44mag,and a 45 70. The other bad thing is ,I shot it today and it shoots very good,so I'll probably have to keep it to.   :roll:  :roll:   Digger

I wish we had a pawn shop like that around here. Here they have all given up on guns and just have a bunch of crap that crack heads have sold for just enough to buy a rock. I don't even go in and look any more.
PROUD REDNECK CONSERVATIVE

I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun

these things all seem invilve ''2 part'' decisions-[1]do I really need another gun?[easy] and [2] explaining to the Keeper of the Chequebook why I really needed another gun[ bit more dificult]
 And, the more ''good deals'' I find, the thiner the explanation sounds,matter of fact she is now asking me why she shouldn't make somebody else as happy as I am , by giving them an equally ''good deal''?

I shot the marlin short barrel today without earmuffs,and it really was'nt that bad.I had a 3 shot group of 1" when on the 4th shot the BSA scope decided enough of this,and self destructed. Going to try a Weaver K4W tomorrow,and see if it blows up. This was with factory ammo also ,and recoil was'nt bad either. Not to bad for 100 yds. shooting. Digger

Ditch;

Sounds like you got a winner. And whoever did cutting down on the barrel, must have known what they were doing. GOOD SHOOTING!
What factory load are you shooting?

If I've still got it,a guy offered me $275 for Sat.. I could load some XTP 180's ,and that should really blow them up.  Digger
