The .45-70 is a GREAT cartridge and a HOOT in a Handi!  Super on pigs and with the Level 2 loads and a good recoil pad is as mild and fun as any gun!

Full price is about $199 w/o scope and rings, you can easily spend as much or more than the rifle cost on rings and a scope, I use a lower powered fixed for my sweetie.  I would say that $125 was about 1/2 price for a .45-70 w/ cheapie scope.
Thanks and Gig''em

Moose,
DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!! Purchase of even one Handi Rifle, especially the 45/70,will doom you to complete dis-satisfaction with all other rifles.
Please do not follow this path as I did.

Just kidding. You get it and you will love it.You cannot have any more fun with your clothes on than shooting a 45/70 Handi.

Of course you realize that for about $100 you can order additional different caliber barrels to fit the same receiver and thereby have a multi-caliber rifle on which you can switch from barrel to barrel in about three minutes.

That is a very good deal on a Handi. Send in a get a 44 Mag barreland you will never shoot the 45-70 again  Just kidding. The 45-70 is capable of being down loaded to 900 fps or heavy 400 grainers at 1800fps. It'll do 300 grainers at 1800 fps and 500 grainers at 1600 fps, and we haven't even discussed BP loads yet. If you're shooting just factory loads, it is still very versatile, Good Deal, Enjoy!!!

Moose. That was a great deal indeed. You are hooked now.Wait till you shoot it.I do not have a scope on the one I hunt with because it is so accurate. Most shots around here are less than 100 yards.
There's just something about hunting with a single shot big boomer with iron sights.

Moose:

Give it a real good cleaning before you shoot it...and try some of the Winchester Supreme ammo for it...the ones that have the 300 grain Nosler bullet in it...you like it I'm sure...you got a real good deal there...Enjoy

I am loading 220gr hpgc, 300gr rfngc, 405gr rfngc and 500gr 3r gc in mine, really does well, getting 2" or less at 50 yds with open sights.
I am going to try making a scout scope mount for it so I can use a ler 2x, my eyes are not what they were 50 years ago, of course, nothing else is either.
