Pleased to meet ya! New guy in AL, brand-new to hunting too.

Hello all!   :D

Found this forum from a friend over at THR...Wow! Great place you've got here!  Hope to learn a lot and contribute a little, too.

By way of introduction, my family and I just moved to central Alabama, and are very interested in getting started hunting upland game (quail, pheasant, rabbit, chukar, grouse), so any advice/encouragement/suggestions are VERY welcome!

My wife and I are both military vets, and found renewed interest in handguns and RKBA around 9/11/01.

We are members of the vast right-wing conspiracy, veteran home-schoolers who love God, family, and country.

I'll shut up now, and hope to see you all 'round the forums as I get to know the place!

Thanks,
Ben/Fignozzle

Yup welcome. Gonna have to break some sad news to ya tho. Much of what you're wanting to hunt just isn't available here in Bama. There is no wild hunting for pheasant, chukar or grouse in Bama. On a few preserves you will be able to find the pheasant and chukar but not likely grouse. Quail hunting is hard to come by these days except on preserves or on large tracks of private land all of which are tied up in leases. Not trying to discourage you but just make you aware of the facts. Rabbits are plentiful and you should be able to do that on public land or even perhaps get free access to it on some private land. Squirrel hunting and deer hunting you can do easily enough. But the bird hunting is gonna be more difficult and much more expensive.
