Meopta scopes

Any one know anything about Meopta (Spelling?) scopes.  I live in Germany now and these seem to be popular and recomemded at the local Rod And Gun club.  They seem bright and clear with 30mm tubes, but that is inside.   So if you have an opinion good ar bad let me know.  
And yes Swarovski, Zeiss, and Smithd&Bender are still expensive as heck here.
