Nikon vs. Burris
« on: February 19, 2005, 01:35:30 PM »
I have found these two scopes in my price range ($275-$325) and need your help.  They are both 4.5x14x40AO.  One is the Nikon Buckmaster, and the other is Burris Fulfeild II.  Which one is the better scope?  It will go on a Winchester Model 70 with a Boss, caliber is 270.  Will be used for coyotes up to elk, woods to plains. Thanks in advance.     Chad

Nikon.  Nikon.  Nikon.

I own Nikon and Burris scopes, and I am much happier with the Nikons.  They have better optics than the Burris, and are generally shorter and lighter.

The optics on my Nikon Monarch 3.5x-10x-50mm are noticeably better than my Burris Black Diamond 3x-12x-50mm (30mm tube) and 4x-16x-50mm (30mm tube).

I can't speak much for the fulfield II scope, but the Buckmaster is essentially a pre-monarch scope (of which I also own a few) and they are excellent.
