I have a SS with a 4 5/8ths bbl.  Just love the  gun.  Yesterday I tried some 32 S&W Longs in it.  Wow, they will not group at all.  It's a very accurate revolver with mags.  Anyone else experience this?

Are they reloads or factory? My SP101 in 32 Mag likes both rounds but I had to play with the S&W load a little for it to shoot right.

They're Remenington factory loads.  I'll shoot them up for the brass, but they are definitly plinkers.  With 32 mag. ammo either jhp or swc it is a very accurate handgun, but not those 32 S&W Long RN.  This is one of my favorite handguns, have a number of offers if I chose to sell, fat chance.  I don't know why Ruger dropped the adjustable sight version of the Single Six 32.  Oh well what do I know.

If you can find an older one with adjustables, you'll never regret it.  By the way neither my old Single Six or my S&W 631 will shoot .32 Longs for diddly.  Absolute waste of time and trouble, factory or handloads.  Now with H&R (not really a mag in here) brass, everything will go in one hole if you can hold them.  May never understand since all my .357's and .44's will shoot short brass.  !!??

Use the 32 S&W Long brass with longer/heavier cast loads.  You will see the groups tighten.  The ball bullet is probably about sideways by the time it hits the forcing cone.

Good Luck,

My Ruger 32H&R's are two of my favorate revolvers. I have the fixed sighted ones, one SS Birdshead and one blued plowhandle one. My primary use for them is Cowboy Action shooting, but they have become my favorate walk arround guns also. Often, the blued one is in my belt as a CCW gun, loaded with Federal JHP Defensive rounds.  Why yours won't shoot the 32longs I have no idea, but mine both show a marked decrease in accuracesy.

My favorate load for both of mine, that shoots to POA at about 25yds, is Starling brass, CCI primers, 12.5grns of American Poiner Powder, and a 115grn LazerCast .313 dia. RNFP bullet. Very moderat recoil and the one 'youte I shot with it went through both frt sholders and exited, rolling the 'youte over sideways and he didn't get up. I'[ve shot a few rabbets with this load and they wern't torn up too bad to cook.

The biggest reason I use these loads is   "Thew are just pure fun to shoot!!!"

APP is a Black Powder sub and the ammount of smoke these loads put out in wonderful!!!

Steve P-have tried 85gr JHP, RCBS 32-098SWC, Magma 115PB and Lyman 311316GC and both my H&R's hate the short case.  Fast or slow, heavy or light, they just seem to get indigestion with a short case. Qien' Sabe?

You are using the short bullets.  Those bullets will work great with the 32 Mag brass.  Will be good shooters.   Try the RCBS 165 sil bullet in the shorter brass.  Shoot it unsized.   Mine dropped out about .312 from the mold.  Hand lube and load.   Also some of the .312 - .314 rifle bullets work ok.   The shorter case is closer to where you need to crimp the longer bullets for use in the small cylinder.   Don't get too hot as the heavier bullets can come out on recoil and bind the cylinder.
