Beeman SS-1 scope
« on: February 21, 2005, 09:04:04 AM »
A pawn shop has this for sale and wants $135 for it.  It is a 2.5 X 16 blue ribbon?  Any opinions on this scope and value will be appreciated.  Thanks.

I think it is probably worth at least that. but being in a pawn shop you should be able to get it for less with cash.  I have one on a 16" Contender carbine in 22LR.  I bought mine at a gun show a couple of years ago and paid $100 for it.  The dealer probably got it on an air rifle as a package deal and probably has little or nothing invested in it.  Go in there and put a $100 bill on the counter and see if he will take it.

Thats what I am going to do but thought it might be worth a lot more since I hardly ever see one.  Thanks.

I bought mine for over $200.  These scopes in good condition have been really popular among some airgunners and for some of the AR 15 shooters. If they have all the base pins for the various widths of scope rails then the scope is worth more.  If that scope is in good condition and you want it I think you are looking at a good price and they are hard to find.  Just make sure it has the right spacer pins in the base for your gun.  If you get any spare pins you want to get rid of let me know. thanks Bob.  I'm not in the market for another of those scopes.  I would like to have more pins for mine so I could fit it on one other rifle.  I've mainly moved on to higher power, larger diameter scopes for my aair rifle shooting.  But I think I'll hang onto the SS1 for some uses.  The no parallax feature at very short ranges is real nice and its a rugged and tiny scope for a .22 rifle.  Good for hunting in thick stuff.

I took my boy out hunting on a cold day.  We have had the SS-1 on his CZ Scout 22.  He was having trouble sighting on a grouse so I took a look.  The durn thing had fogged!  So its off to ABO in Florida for repair.

Drat.  I don't know if these are prone to fogging or if mine had too much wear and tear.  Sure like the size of these scopes.
