new to sport-lots of Qs
« on: February 21, 2005, 10:52:38 AM »
First, greetings to all.  I am looking to shoot silhouette rifle in 7mm-08.  I just bought a 10/22 so I can shoot smallbore at the local range, and will want to shoot centerfire as well.

Precision Shooting and the Accurate Rifle magazines do not really offer much for silhouette shooters.  The receptionist for these magazines says there is a magazine/tabloid just for silhouette, published in California.  She didn't have any further information.

Does anyone subscribe?  Name, address and phone of publisher, website, etc.  thanks

I think that would be the "National Silhouette Report". My subscription has ran out though. I really need to contact somebody. Does anyone have the contact info.?

Thanks, Bill

Try 16968 FM 2843, Florence, TX 76527     PH (254)793-3987      nsreport@dashlink.com.  This is old contact info. Can't guarantee it's good. I thought I was a subscriber to the new "Report" but it's been a long time since I've seen one. It's heavily handgun oriented, but not exclusively.

That email address you posted doesn't work.   Is there any way you can get me updated contact information?  Is it even published?

Good question. Gun Zorro, who occasionally posts here, was the original publisher. It got to be too big a job and he turned it over to new management. That was some time last year.

sorry but the consultant in me is coming out...

SSR,

What information are you looking for that you will find in this publication?  perhaps there is another means of providing for your requirements?

Lots of things actually.  Actions, stocks, scopes, etc.  Would be more interesting to get the magazine, if it still exists??

Well, SSR, I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful. At least I tried. If you can't find the NSR, take consolation from the fact that it was heavily oriented toward handguns and match reports. Nothing wrong with that but it's not the best way for a new guy to get questions answered.
Now, to each his own, but I would have thought that direct access to some of the sport's best and most experienced participants would be a somewhat more "interesting" way to get questions answered than reading a magazine six times a year. But that's just me.
As I believe I mentioned in a PM I sent you yesterday, if you want a state-of-the-art sporter suitable for shooting both classes, call Mark Pharr and send him a check. You'll save money and time in the long run. If you like fiddling with the equipment and working it all out piece by piece, ask specific questions here and people who know a  lot more than I will share their hard-earned experience. And if you just want to read, the search feature on this board, or going through past topics, should keep you busy for a while. Good luck to you. And good shooting.
