Well this is a two part story.  My roommate right now at college, is a fan of bolt action rifles (i.e. tikka, or ruger, etc...), and I try to persuade him to buy a handi rifle a fair amount.  Well we came up one day with the idea that if I could get my SS .223 to shoot a half inch group or smaller center to center, he would have to buy one.  Verdict is???
He has to pick one up!  I've messed with this thing a bit, redoing the synthetic stock so that it's a textured gray finish, bedded the scope rail, polished the bore and chamber w/ jb paste, and then taking the ejector apart to make sure that it was all cleaned.

Load used was as follows;
27.3gr. Varget
50gr. Hornady V-Max
CCI BR-4 Small rifle primers
Lake City brass
Overall group size is .4635" c to c.

Not bad for a Lee loader, eh??? :wink:

Thats good shooting and good loading.  Now when you can do that each and every time you really have something to brag about.  I shoot a group like that now and then but not very often.  Have fun with that Handi.  :D

Well, you might have another convert.  I've been reading this forum for so long I think I've been brain-washed.  Depending on what my tax lady tells me on Saturday, I might have to go to Wallyworld and see how much they charge for a Handi in .280 Remington.

I can probably rustle up that amount but then I need a REALLY nice scope.  I already have the dies and other reloading components.  I'm interested in seeing how much higher velocity the 26" Handi-Rifle will give over a standard 22" barrel.
