New Penn SS graphite reels
« on: February 23, 2005, 05:55:50 AM »
Penn's SS saltwater reels have been around for a while now, and for good reason - they are great reels at a great price.  Yes, they are kinda expensive compared to the cheap $29.99 spinning reels, but,  then again, those ARE cheap reels - plastic gears etc.

Now Penn has come out with the SS in a graphite frame.  I was at a sporting goods store yesterday and tried it out.  Seems very nice and lightweight, which should be of benefit for those using lighter rods.  I looked at the Penn 430 and 440 SSg.  Should be great for bay fishing.

I suspect that these reels are just as good as the regular SS reels, just lighter weight.  What do you guys think?

Sounds Great.  How do they compare to the regular SS reels?

I guess that they are just a little lighter, and more corrosion resistant.
