TC forearm screws

I just received a laminate stock(Encore) and would like to know if any of you can direct me to where I can get longer screws.  Or, can tell me what size they are?  I have determined that they are are a 40 thread but that's it.  Thanks

They are suggesting the screws are #8?  They look more like 1/4" to me.

They're neither. Took one of mine to a bolt & screw company and they
couldn't match them up with anything they had. The #8 was close, but the
threads weren't as tight as the forearm screws. Need to go to a well
supplied gunsmith, I would say.

When I had a similar problem, I just drilled the forearm holes a sixteenth
inch deeper. It's tricky, cuz the drill bit wants to dig in, but it can be done.

I appreciate the welcome to the forum and the assistance.  I called TC and ask one of their smiths what they were.  He said the forearm screws are #8 - 40.  They have turned out to be tough to find.  Still contemplating my options.  I'm leaning towards purchasing #8 blanks and a 40 die to make my own.

Okie, They are 8x40 no dought. If you are going to an aftremarket forearm I would sugest you send the barrel to Bullberry or VVCG and have the dovetailed screw mounts installed. The are like the Contender. You can then use 10x32 "get anywhere" screws and if you are mounting a sling can replace the forward screw with the machined swivel stud.You could also got with one of their hanger bar systems.

Ya don't need to send your barrel to VVCG. They make a hanger bar in
which the hanger bar screws go right into the existing holes. Then the
forearm screws go into the hanger bar, so there is no need to send the
barrel to VVCG if you use their hardware.

I guess the source of my confusion is that both my Encores are muzzleloaders - I'm looking at different screws.   :oops:
