I'm looking for info on black powder loads in 38-55. using 250 cast flatnose bullets. Interested in using 3f, Swiss.

D.E.C.

I have no experience in loading b.p. in the .38-55 but I do have expeience with Swiss 3F in the .45 Colt in a rifle.  On average, Swiss likes very little compression for the best results.

I would load enough Swiss to give somewhere between .03-.06 of compression and give it a try.  Be sure to use b.p. lube.

Good luck,

The most important rule to remember is NEVER leave a gap between the powder and bullet.  You can fill it with a wad or such, but a gap is dangerous.  Make sure when you factor in the compression, you know the length of the bullet(+wad if used) INSIDE the case so you do not over compress and leave a gap in there.

Enjoy, make smoke!
God, Family, and guns, in that order!

Here's some info that might help you. 3f Swiss would probably get you around 100fps faster than what is showing for the Goex.
