Quick
Read your report.  Sounds like it went pretty well overall.  On the primer issue, it sounds like it may not have been seated deeply enough.  If it was a BP load, the guys at the Shiloh Rifle Forums http://shilohrifle.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=2&sid=609570e86583b1c9b12279544b4111f9  recommend the federal mag rifle primer.  Can't recall the number off the top of my head.  Say it gives more reliable ignition for the BP.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!

I'm using the CCI 250 magnum rifle primers, dropped the hammer on it 3 times, if it wasn't seated the first time, it was the 2nd or 3rd time!! It looked as deeply seated as the rest, I check em after I prime with the Lee Auto-prime to make sure they are seated all the way.  I left it chambered for a good 3 minutes before I removed it. It had a good pin strike on it.....just a dud, I think, just glad it wasn't on a trophy elk or a bear charge.
