I have a Remington Sportsman 78 (same as 700 ADL). Actually wife's gun. Bought new Mueller 4-16X50 Red Dot Scope for it because I needed her cheap scope for a 22. I wanted to use Burris Signature rings for it. I used the old base & rings that were on it to check fit (Burris universal single base & high rings). The scope barely has clearance for the scope covers & is too far away from the eye to see through it. I thought I would cut the stock down so the gun would fit her better but still need to move the scope back. If I buy new reversible double dove tail mounts & new dove tail Signature rings, there will not be any clearance for the scope since the barrel tapers. How can I raise the scope higher?
