I just saw one at the gun shop for almost 1/2 the price of the AR15. I like the simplicity, but haven't spoken to anyone that has fired it. Are they worth the money?? ($690 plus tax)

Wonder if this would be a better deal than the $360 mini-14 I saw?

As an Owner of a Bushmaster M4A3 and an AR-180 and a Mini-14 Ranch Rifle, here is my observations. The AR-180 is alot easier to clean, but not as accurate as my Bushmaster. I bought the Bushmaster because I carried an M4 in the Army, and I liked them. The Mini 14 is hopeless in accuracy, but it is a rare one, so I keep it. Hope that helps. The AR180 is worth the money.

$690 Ouch!!!----they go for $599 around here------$690 gets you into a decent AR---even though you might have to build it yourself.

Seems a decent gun----but I didn't care much for the plastic receiver.

Well, I caught the same guy at a gun show and talked him down to $625 out-the-door. It's amazing how much more willing he was to negotiate when he wasn't on his own turf. Good thing I didn't buy it last week :lol:

Can't wait to get it out to the range. I'll have to "acquire" a couple of 30 round magazines from work before I go.

Does anyone ever go by the "break in" plan? It seems pretty well thought out and makes sense. I'm willing to try anything if it will help accuracy down the road.

If nothing else, just think of the money you saved by not losing on the reasale of a Mini-14, since you have to spend about double purchase price to get them into any form of accuracy. An expensive noisemaker. Have not handled the new AR 180's, but even if remotely similar to the originals you will enjoy how hardy and simple to maintain they are. My orginal Costa Mesa will shoot any (including junk Chinese) ammo into 1.5" groups. Love the quick detach scope mount. S&K and another used to build a mount cheaper than Armalite's. Functions fine. Reliable? Have owned mine since 1970 and have yet to have the first failure to feed and fire. Hope Armalite maintains the tradition. Wouldn't trade mine for two Colts.
