Anybody have experience with a 16" drop in barrel?

I found a 16" drop in barrel made by Thompson/Auto Ordnance for the 1911.  Has anyone seen these...or used them?

What do you think?  Are they worth $75?  I imagine it would make the gun look ugly-as-sin, but how accurate do you think it would be out to about 50 yards?

just my opinion...

for poops and giggles it might be worth having.  since your site radios is still the same, I doubt accuracy will improve much.

Might be worth having if you want something to cut down to a customized length to fit a long slide with muzzle attachment threading for comps or legally owned silencers.

I had a kit once that came with a shoulder stock and a 16" drop in barrel.  The stock attached to a modified mainspring housing.  It was kinda cool looking.  One thing I noticed is that the bullets smacked the 100 yd gong a lot quicker than with the 5" barrel.   (pre chrono days)

I was just curious because I saw one on E-Bay and was half tempted to bid on it.   Someone else ended up getting it for $70.

I thought it might have made a pretty cool (up close) hog gun.
