A good day at the Gun Show
« on: February 27, 2005, 02:29:45 AM »
I went browsing at the local gun show yesterday and found a 10" blue 22rf barrel with a forend and a T/C 2.5x7 rail mounted for $175. Surprisingly, there isn't any frame rub marks..........the thing is like new all over. Wish I could do that every weekend.

Sure am glad to hear you got a good deal at a gun show. Around here the prices at most of the shows are higher than at the gun shops. :grin:

Flash;

there was a good one here in Tulsa, this weekend also. I bought a few barrels, but didnt get any real steals like that one you got. However, a guy did walk up to a friend on mine who is a dealer with a Leupold scope still in the box...3-9 Matte Vari XII, not a scratch on it... still had the price sticker on the box: $100..... not a bad buy....

There were a few pieces that I was looking for and did find but not at my price. I found a minty Marlin 1894 in 25/20 but the guy wanted $1,000 for it. The stainless 1894's in 41 mag were priced right($550) but I didn't want one. A woman had a 22 Match 10" contender barrel with a 2.5 T/C rail mount that looked like it was used as a golf club and still she wanted $175. I seen a NICE Winchester 1892 in 32/20 but the fella was asking $1,750 :eek:  and wouldn't budge. There is a show coming up in Maryland within the next few weeks. Maybe I'll get lucky there too.

if you are into the older lever guns such as the '92's, '94's, 1886's, etc try to come up to Tulsa for the Wanenmacher show scheduled the first weekend in April... there will be about  4,700 tables full of guns stuck in an 11 acre building...

Wow, and I thought 200 tables was a big show. The collector lever guns here are priced pretty high but once in a while, you find a bargain. There is a local dealer that is heavy into Winchester and Browning and the store is a gun/hardware/sporting goods/ etc shop. He has income coming in from so many angles that his guns don't have to be priced high. You'll take a beating on trades but use cash and you can't beat his prices.

At a local show I managed to snag a 10" Hornet oct barrel for $120. It is like new. I think I got a good deal.
