Very old, very smooth, very accurate Smith & Wesson K-22 revolver with a 6-inch barrel, target trigger and target hammer.

My Burris scoped Ruger MKII 10".  Most accurate .22 handgun I have ever had.  Now if only Ruger would chamber it for the .22 WMR cartridge it would be perfect and I'd be the first guy in line to buy one.  Lawdog

Actually I have three. I've a High Standard HD Military with a beautiful trigger that is wonderfully accurate, shoot's the pant's off my S&W K-22.
I also love my S&W mod 16 in 32 SW long with 90 gr cast bullet's, wonderfully accurate, every bit as much as the High Standard. And I've also got a SW 38/44 that with either 148 gr wc or 150 gr keith type bullet's will shoot with the other two. I keep my cast velocities low so need no gas checks. Bullet's made of wheel weight's.

If I could only use one, I'ed thro a hissy fit,,,,then grab the SW mod 16 in 32 SW long.
 Even a blind squrrel find's an acorn sometime's![/quote]

I just got myself a Marbles Game Getter.  It has 15" barrels, 22 over 410 with folding butstock.  Hunting with handguns is illegal here in Canada, but that is not going to stop me (sh, don't tell the law).  I am going to try to see if I can make it  legal.  I think it would be great for hunting small game.  Springfield Armory's scout pistol looks pretty cool; should it ever be released.  Same idea as the gamegetter but shorter barrels.

Prior to the above it was a Brownining challenger .22LR and a S&W 5" M15 .38 Special.

toss-up betwen the single six and my new Ruger Mark III hunter.  The later is more accurate, but I've put a lot of meat in the pot with that old single six.

Depends on what the intent is.

For putting meat in the pot my old S&W 22/32 Kit and first year Ruger Super Bearcat have probably accounted for the lions share of it over the decades.   Not far behind is a High Standard HD Military (I've had for over 50 years) and a Colt Ace though.

For long range varmint hunting and high volume shooting I've mostly used scoped specialty handguns, mainly TC Contenders, Remy XP-100's, and a custom Sako A1 bolt pistol.

Shot for shot, I'd bet the Bearcat has more rounds through it than any other handgun though, and it stiull shoots as good as ever.   Not many treks in the outdoors the last almost 4 decades that it wasn't in a back pocket.

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

In center fire, my S&W "K" frame revolver chambered in 25/20 Winchester...

But, the handgun that's by far put more small game on my table than any other, is my High Standard Victor.  I have also won more small bore pistol matches with it than any other, as it's the most accurate pistol i've ever fired.

Depending on the target and range it would be a Striker in 22lr or 22mag if using
rimfires. A G2 in Hornet or 357 or an Encore in 223 for centerfire work.
