LEINAD Survival Rifle question
« on: February 27, 2005, 07:53:04 PM »
I guess this belongs here if anywhere. There is a company called Leinad that makes little black derringers somewhere in Tennesee. They make all kinds in many barrel configurations. Pepperboxes, over under, side by side, single barrled, even blackpowder versions. They also make a survival drilling based on their .22 over .410 derringer. It comes with 18 (i think) inch barrels and a folding stock that somehow clamps on the pistol grip. I have never even seen one of these in person before, so I am just describing it from a small photo in Shotgun News.

My question is, does anybody know if the .410 barrel is smooth bore or not? All of their .410 derringers have a rifled barrel and a .45 colt/.410 combination chamber. This is one of the few firearms they make with a barrel over 18 inches, so I am wondering if they rifled the .410 barrle and put a combination chamber in it like they do their derringers, or if they just made it a smoothbore .410.  I believe the barrel is 18 inches, it might be 16. If it is sixteen I guess it must be rifled, but I just don't know how long it is. I suppose I could send an e-mail to the company selling them. I was hoping somebody here might have one and be able to tell me something about them.

Like that but with a .22 barrel on top also. They make a derringer with the same barrel configuration, but only 6 inches long. I just called the company, but forgot to ask about the bore. They say they are out of hammers at this time and won't be able to sell any more until they find a supplier. I might try talking them into selling me a kit minus the hammer and making my own. Or I could just wait until they get production rolling again. Thanks for the link.

They are back in production now. KY Imports is waiting for a shipment. I will be ordering one as soon as I can.

I found out some more specifics. The barrels ar 18 inches. The stock is mounted to a flat steel plate the shape of the grip and pivots on a grip screw, by the looks of it. This would make it easy for me to remove the plastic stock and make my own wire frame version. The forend is held on by one screw. It would be simple for me to make a set of walnut grips, a splinter forend, and a wire stock for it. This would make it almost like the game getter that I wish was still available. I can hardly wait for these to be available!

Hey willys,

Hope you keep up posted when you get the gun.  I'm sure others beside me want to know how it shoots and if the two bbls shoot to the same point of aim..

Do you have an addy for the company??

Leinad, Inc.,221 HWY 68-North, Ducktown, TN.

I once found their phone number through a reverse directory, but I have since lost it and don't want to take the time to find it again. I called the factory once and was told about the hammers not being in production. KY Imports tells me they are getting shipments of other LEINAD guns in, and they have an order in for some over/unders. I just called again yesterday and they haven't got them yet.
