Slavia 631
« on: March 01, 2005, 03:59:20 AM »
Hey ya'll.
I usually hang out over at the NEF Shotgun forum, but today we're airgun shopping. I've landed on the Slavia 631 because it has everything I want at a price I can afford. Also, it has gotten alot of good comments in this forum. The only sticking point for me is that it's a discontinued model and I'm concerned about parts availability and repairs. Is this even a consideration? Has anyone done business with Sunshine Airguns?
Thanks for your comments. This looks like a good forum.
Jeff

I think there is still enough support out there for the Slavia 630/631 series.  It's a pretty basic break-barrel springer.  Truly a bargain in today's market.    Jorge has a good reputation among the airgun aficionados as a stand up guy.

Does he still have the 631 model in stock?  I see ads for the 630 but not the fancier 631.

Custom airgunsmith Paul Watts used the 630 model as the basis for a custom sporter - "Stoker 630."  If you ever have the money, he is a true master.

Thanks Airsporter. Actually I called today and they are out of stock. Compasseco has a 631 Model 77 Deluxe for 115.00 but they are also out. Might be worth waiting for. It seems to have the features I want for a good price (accuracy and a decent trigger). I'm really just looking for the most accurate target and backyard plinking gun that I can get for the money.

Parts for the 631 are going to get harder and harder to get every year.  Too bad though they were a good bargain.  Lawdog

Keep an eye on the gun auctions.  I saw one sell on Gun Broker just a day or two ago.  They aren't as common as they were 2 years ago. Too bad they sounded like a good little gun. Ian Pellant wrote an extensive review:  http://home.hiwaay.net/~ispellan/Airguns.html

I'd be tempted to pick up the plain-Jane 630 model (about $80 new) and put the difference toward a decent peep sight ($60).  Plus, you don't have to mess with the barrel latch on each shot.
