I had a pair of glasses made for shooting to help me with focusing on the front sight of my target pistol. (I'm in the bifocal generation). It's a variation on the common "computer" prescription in which the top half of the bifocal is for distances of 2 to 3 feet, and the bottom half is for reading.
This works well with iron sights.
I always assumed that with a red dot sight, that focusing on the dot was like focusing on the front sight in terms of distance. However, this appears not to be the case. When I tried the new glasses with a red dot sight, the dot was just as blurry as the target. Going back to my regular distance glasses put the dot into sharp focus, so for me at least, focusing on the dot is as if you are focusing at distance.
I never knew that, and thought you might want to know too.
