No more mini-14's or mini-30's???
« on: March 02, 2005, 02:54:28 PM »
I know you can't believe everything you read, so thought someone here might know?

I just read that Ruger is going to stop making the Mini-14 & Mini-30!! Something about they are redesigning them or are designing something new??!!

Anyone know the inside scoop??  Let us know!!

Thank you,
Del

I cannot find the link but there was info from the SHOT show that they are releasing a reworked version that is designed to be more accurate.

The old "standard" Mini's are gone.

What's left are reworked versions of the Ranch rifle and Mini-30.

New sights
Butt pad on the stock
Mini-30 only in stainless

That's pretty much it.

I read over on the ruger forum, that the old tooling for the mini-14 was worn out and when they retooled a lot of effort was made to square things up so it was "balanced and blue printed".

I wonder if they made the same effort to improve the accuracy of the mini-30??

So I guess the way to tell if it is a "redesigned" mini is to look for the new style sights.  Because I bought a NIB mini-14 shortly after the synthetic stock was available w/the stainless model, and it had the rubber butt pad then.

Thanks for the info. guys, anything else someone can share??
