Just bought a Rifleman, 4X12X40 to mount on my .221 Fireball. I'm beginning to think I made a mistake. I've read the bad, not multi-coated, not a one piece tube, 1/2 MOA adjustments. I have not mounted it yet but man I like it when I look through it. Very clear and sharp. Does anyone actually HAVE one that they can share an opinion about with me. Thanks.

Nunk, you probably won't like to hear this but here goes.....I would send it back and spend the same money on a Burris FFII. It is superior in every way, expecially optically and very tough. The rifleman series is not in the same league with the FFII.

I would own no scope over about 9X or at most 10X without a parallax adjustment feature. Don't care who makes it or what it costs if it's over 9X or 10X it needs an AO.

If it looks good to you, put it on and use it, you just might be happy. I have a lot of scopes that others say are inferior and they work just fine for me.

!! I got this, brand new, for $235. I see The Optic Zone has the Burris FFII for $335, so I'm probably just going to keep it.

Graybeard - thanks. I probably won't use it at more than 9X but a few times. Hopefully, anyway.

!! I know, have heard negatives though. Like they are cheap, Leupold is just using their name to sell this scope, not multi-coated, don't have a one piece tube, yadda, yadda, yadda. It looks good to me however. Hope it performs well.

Redhawk - I would say that sounds like the plan at this point.

Bullseye - agreed.

I was just looking for anybody who actually has one. Not what they've heard, etc.

I use several VX-1's which are very similiar scopes to the Rifleman. I think the VX-1's are supposed to have a little better coating on the exterior lenses. They work fine for me. The VX-1's are the same price in gloss and about $20 more in matte than the Rifleman. That is the closest actual experience I can give you.

The Rifleman series is a low-end scope designed to compete against a low-cost imports. I would not want one because some of those imports are better scopes for the same money or less.
