The spot in the river we are trapping right now is deep enough that our 330's are totally submerged when we have them in our stabilizers.

Tom I notice you have yours half way out of the water, but our shoreline drops off so steeply, that we can't really do that without them being right on shore, and almost hitting shore when they set off.

Thats why we used snares last year, but can't yet because of the ice. However I would like to set some 330's anyway. Should we set them submerged and use dive sticks or something? Thanks!!

My 330's are mainly set submerged. Sometimes it's for reasons such as yours, but most other times I'll make a castor set in a side channel off the main stream and set the 330 with a quite a space between the trap and the castor mound. In the latter case, I would rather have the trap submerged with a dive pole over the top.
I find with the trap completely submerged I have fewer snapped traps and refusals.  I believe that when a beaver has to dive they are more commited to going through the trap than they are when just swimming up to the trap on the surface.

Keith,you can set them submerged.Just dont place them to deep.I use cross sticks,but on totally submerged ,I may also add a dive pole---all depends on my mood.  lol

330 deep water with steep banks

Having steep banks and drop offs  and wanting to use a 330 is easy when there isnt any other places to set without going too far... You set your 330  horizantally  just under water with a dive stick before 330.   Have the 330 right up tight to bank as bvr will come up quickly after dive stick... 330 can be stabilized  just like when setting  vertically in water with  Bogs  stabilizers or two sticks thru springs... You can have castor on bank or peeled sticks... This works , try it and  let us know how many you catch with this method .... good luck
