Anthony,
Try going to the Hodgdon Powder Site, click on Smokeless, YOUTH loads.
There it says to use ONLY H4895 and multiply max loads by 60%.  Now on the left-hand margin is a listing of calibers: click on 30-06 and you will see some lighter weight bullets listed using H4895.
Good Luck!

anthony:

Pick up a Lyman 48th edition reloading manual...they have almost  a whole page with cast bullets as reduced loadings...and the Speer #13 reloading manual has reduced loads for jacketed bullets in it...

its been a long time but I was teaching a young man about hunting. I loaded some 130 gr Speers and 150 gr bullets with light loads of IMR 4895.  They were very pleasant to shoot and one was very accurate. I'd have to do some digging to find the load.  Most Speer manuals list light loads at the very bottom or end of the data for each cartridge. Go for it.

If you do a search on "Blue Dot" the AR reloading forum, you'll find a heap of information regarding using that powder for reduced jacketed loads. Just be very careful as your playing with loads that are below 50% case capacity and a double loading of Blue Dot wont be nice. For what it's worth I've used Blue Dot to load reduced jacketed loads using a 123gr and a 147gr projectile in a 7.62x54R (M44). I've had the 123gr move out the barrel from 2200fps through to 2500fps, and the 147gr from 1900fps to 2200fps. Both loads make great practice rounds.
Cheers...

Anthony i only did it once as i always use the same loads at the range that i hunt with, but i was curious one day , hears the load-Using remington brass and cci-200 large rifle primers IMR4350--45.0 grains--using remington 180grain PSPCL bullets . This load is in the Hornady manual as the lowest load with that powder at 2200 fps. Recoil was very light  in my remington 700 bolt action.  I have found this powder the best and most accurate in my 30/06's with both 150 and 180 grain bullets. Hunting loads i use are 59.0 with 150 grain bullets and 57.0 for the 180 grain bullets.

The Speer reloading manual has lots of reduced loads for most of the calibers and bullet weights. You need to be careful when playing with reduced loads.
Hunting and fishing are not matters of life or death. They are much more important than that.
