Deal or not on a M-27?
« on: March 03, 2005, 12:28:53 PM »
:cb2: My local gun shop has a Model 27 .41 mag. 4" with a bit of holster wear around the end of the barrel, and a few scratches on the cylinder, but looks pretty good still. Don't know how old it is, but it's a 27 without a —number. He's asking $350. Good deal or not?

Model 27 is an N-frame .357 Magnum NOT a .41 Mag. So something ain't kosher about that deal you mention.

What you have is either a mod 57 or 58. Both are N frame guns like the Mod 27 only chambered in 41 Mag. The 57 has adjustable sights and the 58 has fixed sights. Swing out the cylinder and look for the model number.

Griz, that would be a good price in my area, in fact if I came across one like that I would buy it myself to have a spare. I have a 4" model 57 no dash, that if I wanted to sell (which I don't) i'd ask $500.00 for it but it is in excellent shape. All my S&W are BKCA.

Griz, sounds like a good deal to me. Were you ever successful in getting in touch with Herretts?

:cb2: No, I never got their website, however, so many people have mentioned how large the Jordan Trooper grips are, and how much trouble it is to deal with Herretts today (not like days of old), that I have decided to go with the Jerry Miculek grips instead.

Thanks for askin'.
