Light between barrel & breach????

I think I may have ran into a problem with my Handi.

To introduce you.....the gun is a 2004 Handi 223 HB with a 22 inch barrel. With or without the 6-9" bipod attached, this gun will poke three holes into 9/16"-5/8" at 100y all day long. This is using WW 45jhp Varmint.

Now to the problem. When locked up without a shell inserted, I can hold the gun up to the light and see a very small sliver through the standing breach and the face of the chamber. I have never had a problem with this with the 60 bullets fired from the gun but it will just be somthing in the back of my head until I find out what the deal is. I read through the post entitled " Stiffening up an action" several pages back and read that this is not a good thing.

To be honest, I really don't care as long as it isn't a safety problem. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Like I said, with groups in the 9/16" range pretty much all the time, this seems not to affect accuracy.

Anybody have any thoughts on this???

Thanks again,

Erik

Thanks quick

When I can find my gauges, I will report back on the actual gap. I am guessing between .004-.005" as I can close the action on a layer of soda can and pull it out with slight force. A soda can is ~.003~ I believe. :?

Like I said, I'm not too worried as the gun groups so damn good for doing absolutely nothing to it.
