i checked out Eds web site the other day and he had some barrels that i was interested in.i got his phone number and called him.all the barrels that he had listed for sale that i was interested in were sold.now i can understand that so i asked about a couple of new in the box barrels that caught my eye.now the price listed on his web site were good indeed but when talking to him on the phone in person the quoted price was higher than on his web site.needless to say i didnt buy a barrel from him.i wasnt rude to him or anything like that,i just didnt do buisness with him.

I haven't done business with Ed's TCs, but from what has been said on several talk forums, is that he is very good to do business with. He does a poor job of updating his web site, only updates it very couple of years. Give him a chance and you may be very satisfied.

Thats your loss Jeff.  Ed has the best prices on barrels I have seen anywhere and is truly a gentleman to work with.  His web page is not updated.  He is in no way a crook.  His prices are quoted over the phone or with email at the time of a purchase, and he sticks with them.

Ed is a good guy to deal with, and he does have very good prices, but in this day and age he should either keep his web site updated or get rid of it.

Just my humble opinion.

(just edited the first just a bit to tone it down a bit-I think that there is some info to be had here, and in the end anyone reading will see the kind of reputation that Ed has with those who have done business with him.)

I just bought a used barrel from ed- one of the best deals i've got so far from anyone. Call Ed back and have him send you one of his current listings- those prices will be good, and i think you will like them. Sometimes he doesn't return your emails also, he also has a full time job, but once you hook up with him he will treat you right.

I have two of Ed's barrels, a 22lr bull match and a .41RemMag bull match of all things. The .22lr was for years my only rimfire gun and my only squirrel gun. It always was a head shooter. I stopped long ago posting the sizes of groups I was getting with the .41RemMag barrel. I just got tired of being called "less than truthful". I could have hunted squirrels with it and matched shot for shot with the .22lr barrel. Head shots on squirrels at 50 yards. Try it sometimes with your .41 or .44.
Love those .41s'

His web sight is out of date, the home page has a date that is about two years ago.  Even though his prices might not match his websight, they are still the cheapest I can find.  I always get anything I order in 2 days and that is great service.

I've gotta ditto all that except for the Norway part--I live in Wisconsin----come to think of it, not so different. I have both traded in barrels and bought outright from Ed over a period of several years and prices have been good and service is prompt---AAAA++++  rating. pg

I just received my first barrel from Ed today. I had placed an order for a custom made T/C Custom Shop barrel back in January.  The folks here told me that if you can definitely save a few bucks and perhaps some time by ordering a Custom Shop barrel through Ed rather than the Foxridge Outfitters / T/C Custom Shop.

He also included a multi-page price/inventory list of all T/C related stuff that he has in stock.  His prices are hard to beat and the variety of styles/finishes/chamberings are quite numerous!

Many folks have said that Ed can be a tough individual to get a hold of, I found that out too, but perserverance paid off.  Keep trying and leave a message.

The man has two jobs and obviously quite busy, but his prices are worth it.   I will order again from Ed in the future if my finances allow and a need arrises.

Or Ed could increase the cost of each barrel by $1, and send that dollar to my house.  My wife will keep his web site updated for that modest fee.

If I do not find it used in the classifieds here, I get it from Ed.  Prices are better than anyone.  I have bought many barrels and several complete guns from Ed.

He also gives very fair prices for trade ins.  Just tell him what you have and he will quote a price over the phone.

Website is way out of date, don't go there, just call him.  I observed his booth at the Tulsa gun show.  He sure was moving some merchandise.

The only problem is that when you buy something, he sends you a new list of stuff, and you have to buy something else.  At least I do.

Contacting Ed
« Reply #22 on: March 07, 2005, 06:55:54 PM »
I have been trying to contact Ed via email for about a week now, to no avail.  I am going to call him next, I reckon.  Where is he located?  I might could go to his shop/house.
I am looking for a new pistol setup to deer hunt with.  I'll go ahead and put a plug in here in case someone has something I'm looking for. (I'm gonna list what I'm lookin' for in the classifieds, as well).
I want a black synthetic/rubber pistol grip and forearm and a 15" barrel somewhere in the neighborhood of a 25-06, .260 , 270, or a 7mm-08.  I am new to the pistol department so I am open to any suggestions anyone might have for a better setup.   I will also need rings and a base along with a 2x7 scope.  I'm not sure on the barrel length.  I'm open to any advice/sugguestions.   Thanks,  Derek.

Just got off the phone w/Ed.  Man..........  He didn't seem to want to even talk to me.  I told him I'm new to the TC thing but I wanted to purchase a barrel, some new grips, and possibly a scope.  He wouldn't tell me what he had, and wouldn't recommend anything.  He finally said he'd mail me a list of what he had, and if I wanted something, call and order it.  I may be jumping the gun, but my firt impression is kinda "weak".  All you guys on here highly recommend him, so I'm gonna look over the list and then go from there.  He also said that if I wanted recommendations, get them on here..........   So...............  What barrel, scope, rings, and base do I want to kill a deer at 150 yards or less.  Something bigger than a .243 but smaller than a 308.  The less recoil, the better.  I'm still leaning toward a 15" 7mm-08.  Like I've said before, any advice/suggestions are greatly appreciated.   Thanks in advance.....................   Derek.

I've also bought several barrels/stocks from Mr. Kirkpatrick(Ed) and he's always been top-notch in service and on price.  And like others have said, don't pay any attention to his site to see what he has.  Back when T/C first offered the 12ga turkey barrel, I called everywhere looking for it but no one could get it.  I lucked up on edstc.com and gave him a call to see if he had one.  When I got in touch with him and asked if he had them, he asked how many I wanted.lol  The man has some good connections!!hehe  Yes, he can be hard to get in touch with, but it'll be worth the effort. :D

12ring,
a 260 or 7-08 would work real good for you.as you can see my first impression of Eds TCs wasnt that good either.check around your area and maybe you will run on to a barrel for a good price.i just sold one of my barrels here local and i replaced it here local.the out the door price that i paid on this new in the box barrel was less than Eds out dated web site price.on my next barrel purchase i will try Eds again  and i may buy from him but i will look around here local too

Jeff,  thanks for the info.   The few people that I know who shoot encores all get their stuff off of the net (usually ebay).  I think I'll go to TC's website and try to locate the closest "dealer", and see what they have as well.  I am still going to wait until I get the "list" from Ed's.  He did drop me an email yesterday telling me he had what I wanted and he gave me a price.  But it was a reply to an old email (back when I was considering a 25-06, instead of the 7-08).  I will know more when I get the info from him in the mail.

I appreciate you......   Derek.
