This was the 2nd year that I trapped by canoe and it was a blast. I have an oldtowne stillwater and it lets me get into places where bigger boats couldn't think of going. I was just wondering how many of you guys trap out of a canoe and how you like it? Tony

My friend Mike and I have trapped out of his canoe each fall for the last several years.I never feel comfortable in a canoe,though I haven't tipped us over. Canoes can be awful hard to handle in big winds.But we are able to weasel our way into some areas I couldnt in my jon boat.

Hey Tom, I know what you mean. I wouldn't want to use a canoe with a partner. I trap solo and use an Oldtowne stillwater. This canoe is 12 ft. long,41 inches wide at the beam and can carry 15 times it's weight (750 lbs). On bigger water , I use a jonboat and motor because of the wind and rough water.

I made three flat sets by my canoe and IMHO the canoe was spooking the coyotes. :-D

Your fibbing WQ as ive heard fm a good source that your canoe floated away with all the rain you have had. Is it true that its the first time the canoe ever floated in New Mexico??
