Sweds Available

If anyone is looking SARCO has some really nice Sweds available now.  They have a few (matching numbers) model 96s, some sniper and target models.  They also have M93 actions at a fairly good price.

My next purchase is a K31 going to order it on Wed allready got a Swede made into a scout rifle but if anyone is looking for a swede ya better grab it now the prices are going up and they seem to be scarcer. I used to see them at gun shows a lot. The last two gun shows I went to had none. Jim

rockbilly, jh45gun - SARCO also has a different bunch of Swedes - they are Husquavarna made 8mm sporters with the crest and good bores.  Some are 96s and some are 98s.  They go for $250.  I ordered a 98 and when it came in I was floored.  Yeah Baby, it's a Swede alright but what an incredibly smooth and easy handling piece.  The bluing - actually, almost blacking, is probably 98%, bore is just as good as my 6.5 M38, blade front and rear sights.  Light and handy.  She is sweet.

Guys, I have a wartime K98, two VZs and a Yugo.  The VZs are smooth and tight but nothin' like this Swede 98 - whoee!  I like my Yugo for easy of carry and she is a pretty handy piece, but this Husky - I think my Model 70 just went into retirement.  Mikey.

Interesting which goes to show you that you never know what might show up next sounds like a good rifle. My Turk has a like new barrel on it and it headspaces perfect on the no go guage and was checked out by my gunsmith. SO that will be my 8MM as I cannot afford to order a lot of guns and I will be ordering the K31 next on Wed. Interesting to hear your report on a not well known variant. Thanks Jim

The swede sporting rifles is a whole new catagory of rifles its a step above all the other rifles.  I like the 8MM's and the 9.3MM's too but i have seen them in 30-06 and other calibers too.                  BigBill

Mikey, Know any good divorce lawyers?  I just bought two barreled actions from SAMCO, last week I went a gun show in Dallas, picked up two sweet Swed actions, bent bolt, scope mount and all, then ordered two 6.5x55 barrels from Midway.  I also bought two milsurp pistols.  Today I ordered two Sweds from SARCO.  Oh well, I think I can find another wife, but them Sweds are getting hard to come by.

The last time I looked at the 9.3mm's of different rounds like the 9.3x57 and the 9.3x62 I believe if i remember correctly there just a tad under the 338win.mag.  which may make the recoil/blast a little more managable. There is a larger one too I think its the 9.3x74 or 9.3x72 I'm not sure.  If one does come my way at a gun show i maybe temped to try one out.  These cannons with larger bullets make great bear/brush guns too.  I have heard stories about the 8x57 trucking thru brush and staying on course too.  Again these guns aren't cheap I seen one on the net yesterday in 30-06 for $1,600.                               BigBill

I once looked into some really odd-ball neck up calibers based on Finnish 7.62x54R MN's and found out that there was a Scandanavian requirement that you need something larger than or equal to 8 MM to hunt moose and that the standard German 8mm mauser is considered 7.9?mm and too small to hunt moose with.  

The only purpose I could see to the law was to make it difficult for common folk to go moose hunting.  

This has spawned a whole bunch of "necked" up european calibers in the Scandanavian countries so folks have have a "cheap rifle" to hunt moose with.
