Will H&R ever chamber for 7mmMag or 300WinMag?
« on: March 07, 2005, 05:59:38 AM »
I am still new to the H&R/NEF's and have only been reading up on them for about a year. I have thoroughly looked through their list of chambering offerings, and was wondering why they don't chamber a 7mmMag or 300WinMag.
Is it a matter of pressure issues? Action Strength?
Is there a possibility they would ever chamber for a 7Mag or 300Mag?
Just curious. :?

Someone here knows someone that had a barrel rechambered to one of the mag rounds, 300win mag IIRC, it stretched the frame after just a few shots. The .280 Rem can be loaded to just a little under the 7mmMag velocities, FWIW.

Wow, stretching the frame. Good enough answer for me.
I suppose if they were to chamber for magnum rounds, they would have to introduce a heavier duty action for such.
