Silly Cowboy Silhouette Question
« on: March 07, 2005, 08:47:44 AM »
We've all heard that the only dumb question is the one not asked.  In that spirit, I have a pretty silly question about shooting Cowboy Silhouette.  Do you have to get all dressed up when shooting this or can I just shoot wearing regular, modern clothes like I do for "regular" silhouette?  I'd hate to show up wearing jeans and sneakers when everyone else is all dressed in period attire, and not be able to shoot.

I don't know about Joisey but here in Texas, 'period' attire is what we wear every day!

The 'dress-up' rule applies only to SASS (Single Action Shooting Society) matches -- which are NOT silhouette -- and to those unusual types who spend their evenings across the river from you in 'the Village'... :)

NRA cowboy silhouette rules require no special attire -- but they do prohibit shooting vests/jackets etc.

Thanks Nomad.  I was 99% sure that I didn't have to "dress up" but I wanted to be sure.

And the guys that I shoot with from "across the river" live in Staten Island.  I don't know what they do when they aren't shooting, but AnthonyG shoots a 30-06 for hunter, and wins a lot of matches doing it, so he's a lot more man than I am. :-D

I used to fly for a fashion photo outfit out of Manhatten and Miami (wasn't a bad job if you didn't mind spending the day hanging around a bunch of 6 foot, 20-year-old blondes) so I KNOW about New Yorkers! (And I've seen them 'dress-up'!)    :)
