I have a older set of pacific durachrome dies I use for loading 38-357. My broblem is that when I full length size Max cases it sizes the top of the case too small. My question is can a person partal length resize a straight walled case like you would a bottlenecked one?

Yep. I don't think that'll be a problem, as long as you can chamber the partially resized rounds. I partial size my 45-90 brass.

That is exactly how I resize my brass, been doing so for the last two years. The length of the brass and the nature of the sizing die is such that about 1/2"to 5/8" of the case is sized. I only turn the die into the press about 1 1/2 turns. The system works well overall.

my lyman dies full sizes all 3 so i dont have that problem.....
