« on: March 07, 2005, 01:26:08 PM »
This Saturday the OFGC will kick off it's 2005 smallbore silhouette season.  Range open to the public at 8:00 am, sight in a 9:00, matches start at 10:00.  Both hunter and standard rifle classes, and also what we call our "Club Match".  1/2 Scale animals shot at hunter pistol distances.  Any safe trigger, any .22 rimfire rifle.  50 dollar gift certificate for a perfect 40 donated by area sporting goods store "The Tackle Box".  5 dollars to shoot the whole works.  Good turnout expected.  Will shoot rain or shine.  OFGC shoots smallbore silhouette the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month now through December.  Come on out and shoot, the mosquitoes haven't woke up yet.  FYI Carl, AJJ, Chicken George and the rest of the guys from Benton, Denney's is a whole lot better than the Waffle house, and just a couple blocks away.  Anyone need directons to the range email me at jneihouse@earthlink.net or call me at 479-883-9345 and I'll talk you in.

Dawg,

Was a little embarrased to brag after noting the inexpensive items like guns and gun safes and duck calls that smaller shoots give out, but since you asked....The grand prize for the top gun in the NRA matches is a cheap plastic cup on a fake wood base.  I'm looking at one now (that pat, pat, pat sound was my hand on my back) and it has a deluxe brass colored metal plate that is inscribed "Old Fort Gun Club Inc.
NRA Small Bore Silhouette 1st Place High Overall"  Win this and you will be the envy of all your friends and your enemies will hate you even more.  I considered selling mine on Ebay, but the thought of an unworthy hand touching this rare jewell made me physically ill.  Instead, I auctioned my Super Bowl ring.  The decoder knob hadn't even been turned.....The real loot is given out for the club match.   We all know that it's even more challenging to knock over 1/2 scale animals than 1/5 scale so we award each class winner with a handsome fake wood plaque with the class specific inscription.  We also have a 50 dollar gift certificate from a local sporting goods store for anyone who shoots a perfect 40 in either the NRA or Club match.  Me, being the great sport that I am have graciously not shot a perfect  1/5 scale score so as to let other shooters have something to work for.  And of course, the thing that really brings out the crowds at our matches is the fact that all shooters have an equal chance to rub elbows with me, the ole Grimreaper.  Be very afraid little metal animals, be very afraid.  I'm coming for your souls......Excuse me, I slipped into character for a little while there,  I get excited when I talk about our matches....As for the 5 dollar match fee, what we don't waste on useless folderol to give away to award hungry shooters, we are saving back to buy more mudholes for the road going to the range.  We already have quite a collection, but we need a few more.  There are still a few Practical Pistol shooters that can get to the range on their shoot day.....

Come on out and shoot silhouettes with us.  Easily the most fun you can have with your clothes on :D

Holy smokes and I thought seeing the elephant at the big tent show was something. I been to two worlds fairs and three pig catch'ens and I never saw a prize like that.

You boys know how to throw a real match, I hear them 1/2's are a real bear to hit seem to hypnotize you, with their come hither looks and beautiful alluring.........whooooooieeee, given myself the vapors.

The bigger targets are a trip.  Went to Berryville, AR the weekend after the Mid South Classic last year and shot in their big 3 match season ending winner take all championship.  They shoot 3/8 scale, but at 25, 50, 75 and 100 yards.  When I looked though the scope at that 3/8 scale chicken at 25 yards I almost threw my gun down and ran...
