Original 1904 Nickel Plated Bisley with Ivory grips/ Value?
« on: March 07, 2005, 01:44:29 PM »
I fully realize this could provoke a lot of discussion because you are not holding the gun in your hands.  (My specialty is Winchesters not Colts)  It is a Very Tight 32-20 and has at least 90% nickel plating on the gun.  It has Very Nice yellowing Ivory grips, not chipped. The research I have done I have not been able to determine if Bisley's came with factory Ivory grips.   I don't know to take a chance and drop a couple of grand on this gun from a private owner or not.   Any idea what this would bring on the market?  I have basically no knowledge of these things.

I don't know if it is the target model or not.  How do you determine that? and what is the difference in value.  I would guess the barrel length was approximately 4 1/2" in length, ballpark.

Elk, Barrel length, is it the target model. Then I'll check my books for you. Regards, Byron

'Scuse me for stickin my 2 cents in here, but as I recall, the target model had a flattop cylinder frame, with a dovetailed rear adjustible sight, and I don't think they came with anything but a 7-1/2" barrel. I'm willing to be corrected, though. jd45.

All I know about these things is that they go bang when you drop the hammer on a live round.  Thats about it.  Im trying to decide if I should pursue this thing or not.  Thanks for the input
