I have an Uncle Mike's vertical holster for a 14" contender.  I believe that it is size #13?  It is the common holster that has straps that make an X in your back.

I was looking at binocular carry straps in a catalog so that the weight does not hang from your neck.  I don't think I can have two different straps running across my back.  My thought is that I may be able to sew in some strap material to the existing holster straps.  This would then result in the binoculars being supported by the holster straps that run across my back.

Anyone have one of the binocular harnesses that run across their back?  Can you describe exactly how the front works?  Are there clips?

Anyone else ever modified their contender holster to also carry a set of full-size binoculars?

Just got back from a hunt, and wore both items mentioned successfully. I put the binos on first, then the shoulder holster. I remember the other way didn't work, but today i had no troubles at all- worked great. Hope this helps- Tad

I remember seeing a bino strap made up by Randy Brooks of Barnes bullets. All it was was an elastic suspender strap with a suspender clamp on both ends. It clamped to the pants in the middle of the back, and then to the bino strap. When adjusted this way the strap would be supported on the shoulders and not on the back of the neck. I have both the holster you describe and a bandoleer style which I prefer. It puts the gun up front and is a quicker access, and less movement than the shoulder holster.
