New Cannon Pictures

A friend and I built this gun over the last couple of winters. I is a full scale copy of one of the cannons that hang in the NPS museum at Gettysburg.
It has some features which have been discussed recently on this board.
It had a tube sight or scope originaly mounted on it.
It has a navy style lock for precussion firing. (or .22 blank)The one in Gettysburg
does not have this, but one other surviving piece does. Which makes it quite easy to photograph.

And its a breech-loader. The originals were first made 1856.

Thank DD, for doing the links.

Good pix.

How does the breach loading work in practice?  Does it require special cleaning from time to time?

Really doesn't need anything special. Just sponge between rounds per normal. the gas checks (rings) work very well and do not leak.
