Hello everyone.

I'm glad to be finally registered.  I signed up a few days, but have not been able to get anymessages to post, so I hope this one goes through.  I've been hanging around since last October.  I like what I read.  Everyone seems friendly and helpful and the staff does a great job of keeping the site a comfortable place to spend time.

I've been a fan of H&R/NEF for years and have favored the single shots for hunting.  Only been into the Handi rifles for a couple of years with the purchase of a .223 in 2003.  I have since added a .30-30, .30-06 and a .45-70 to the cabinet with plans for an Ultra 30-06 to be set up for strickly range shooting.  I reload for each of these calibers as well as a few other pistol and rifle calibers.  I'm keeping a raised brow for ANY .35 caliber that NEF will produce and I would love to come across one of the  7X57's.

Anyway, thanks to all of you who have answered many questions and have provided valuable information regarding these fun little rifles without knowing it.  I look forward to coversing with you all.

:D , Welcome aboard EVOC ONE. It sounds as you have already been bitten by the Handi bug. Another Handiholic joins the ranks!!! I have a 7x57 Handirifle and have seen a 7x57 barrel for sale within the past 6 months on e-bay. Regrettably (if I remember correctly) it went for a little over $200.00!!!
Thats a lot of money for a barrel but other more mundane H&R/NEF barrels have gone for almost that much on e-bay lately. The prices they get there are out of sight. For that caliber though it might have been a great price. My 7x57 is a real nice shooter and the caliber itself is very versatile....Keep looking, they are out there, you will find one someday....<><....

Welcome EVOC ONE, I detected a Law Enforcement tone to your handle and confirmed it by your profile. Not only do you have the benefit of a Handi-Brotherhood but alot of LEO"S also.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.  Just confirms why I joined up.

MSP-Ret:  It seems I migrate toward the military calibers.  Not intentional, just seems to work that way.  But, I don't have any 7 mm's in the collection and think I need (?) one.  The 7 X 57 is a classic and a great cartridge and since learning that it was once offered in a Handi, I certainly regret missing out.  But, I'll find one eventually.  I may settle for the .280, but its so close to the .30-06 and the '06 is much cheaper to shoot.  But then there's nothing logical about being a Handi owner, is there?  Just wanting it seems to be good enough.  Hehhehheh.  And, yes, I admit it, I am a Handi-holic.  But I feel as though finding this site will point me toward the path of Handi-holsumness.  That bliss that allows us to fall into a graceful stupor while lying on the family room sofa staring at our Handi's lined up in the cabinet.

87-19:  Good call, before you checked up.  Anyway, I retired just about six years ago.  Then began the second career trying to teach the next generation how to keep their you-know-what-safe.  Yea, Having been hanging around the site since last fall, I sorta detected (no pun intended) a LE contingent.

See Ya,  EVOC ONE

EVOC ONE, glad to have you here...and your correct in your assesment of many LEO's around.
If you like the military calibers, and until you find a 7x57 may I suggest a GREAT mutant of 2 wonderful military calibers. Get yourself a 7mm-08, the same wonderful bullet selection as all other 7mm's (.284) and less than the .280 (I have a 19" .280 which is an outstanding woods gun!!). The truth be known, loaded to their max the 7mm-08 would marginally outperform the 7x57 but to so small a degree the target would never know the difference. You and I both know (32.5+ years here, retired 4 years ago) dead is dead, ain't 2 ways about it. The 7-08 is a great and wonderfully versatile caliber, a credit to both of it's parents, the 7x57 Mauser and the .308....Consider it. If you wanted, you could always sell the 7-08 barrel when you find your 7x57, heck I'll probably even buy it from you!!!....<><....
