Hey guys, for all of us who may have grown up in rural NY, please keep us posted as to the possible big game season changes. Since the thrust of the changes seems to be catering to the young, I have sent a recommendation in to the state to consider seniors as well. I travel back each year. My little hunting area has not changed, and it does provide fond memories, of how NY used to be...

now that the comment period is over, and man did DEC get an ear full at each of it's meetings!  As far as we can figure, the only thing that is up for grabs, is where they are going to put the proposed extra week of muzzleloading season.  I'll keep you posted.  Joe

The topic of the DEC meetings was handled in several articles in the latest issue of NY Outdoor News.  There are no definitive answers as far as season changes go but hopefully they let us know before the end of summer so that we can get our vacation day requests in order...

I hope the changes aren't that drastic as far as opening day. I had to apply for my vacation already. I based it on the old rules the 1st monday after the 15th. but the Saturday before that Monday would work for me.

Hi Guys, DEC has to reach a decision, on what the dates are going to be for the Southern Zone seasons, by June 1st, at the latest.  Why?  Because that is the absolute latest date they have to get the info to the printers for publishing the "Guide" for 2005-2006 Seasons, Limits, etc.
I have a meeting scheduled for April 30th with DEC.  I should know more then.  I'll let you all know.  Joe
