Howdy folks.
For those of you that have been waiting, why I dont know, for my next installment here you go.
Its official I am crazy. The weather for Saturday called for snow, cold and wind blowing all day. It wasnt supposed to get above 40 all day. So what do I do? Well you know better than to think I wouldnt go. Heck yeah I went. I was one of 25 shooters that braved the cold.
Ok your askin did it snow. Well heck yeah it snowed. It carried on for about 45 mins then quit. Not too bad, the cold wasnt too much fun. That leather duster I bought was sure nice though. Wind has no chance of gettin through that thing.
Friday night one of my Bisleys finally gets in along with my 94 classic. Man that Bisley is one sweet gun. But alas I need a second gun. To the guncase I go. I drag out my old tired 41 magnum Blackhawk. So I have now gone and really challanged myself. Another match shot with guns I have never used before. Two different calibers, grip sizes and shapes, sight radius one is 5 1/2 the other 4 5/8, one adjustable sights the other fixed, finally one blue one stainless. Ok now I know what you guys are thinking.....this is like watching a car stalled on the train tracks.. the train will come along eventually and make a mess of everything.. Well not to be, I didnt have too much trouble. My hands were cold and had trouble gettin the hammers all the way back , it stinks having to cycle all the way around to that live round you missed.
I did better on some stages this time than last. Did worse on some. I had fewer misses with the handguns this time, rifle and shotgun gave me fits. I had been borrowing a shell slide from a buddy and forgot to get it before the match. I was loading shotgun shells from my vest pocket. Not ideal but worked better than I thought.
I somehow got listed in the traditional (sp) class, I was shooting a Bh so I should have been in modern. Probably my mistake, had I been listed correctly I would have come in 4th in Modern as there were only 4 shootin that class.... instead I was in 6th in trad. I still came in next to last, oh well I am sure once I get all my handguns the same and a shotgun shell holder on things will improve.
Research has led me to abandon the banksafe guncart plan. The ground is just too rough there to have to deal with a big clunky cart. I am thinking now of makin one that looks like the iron fences you see in New Orleans. I do fence work on the side so I have pleanty of extra stuff layin around.
I also won a box of 12 gauge shotgun shells as a door prize in the drawing..
Did I have fun.....? Yessir.....I am having a blast.
Till next time... DB Leath
