Where to get - 1.5-2" tall rings?
« on: March 09, 2005, 12:54:30 PM »
I need to find a source for 1.5"-2" tall rings (1" diameter) for 11mm or Weaver.

I hear BKL will make customs but they're off for March per their website.

Someone must sell these - the matches are lined with guys sporting them on their rifles - but they all feign knowing where they came from.... Silhouette Secrets...

Or you could contact 'metalhead' on this forum who makes what are probably the best ones going -- and to any height wanted...

They're not much of a secret -- they get discussed on here regularly!

Welcome to THE SOURCE OF ALL GOOD SILHOUETTE INFORMATION!  :)

Marvin Pearson can make pretty much make anything work for you.  He can also furnish the bases tapered to give you a little more elevation and keep the scope in the center of its elevation range.

Here are several pictures of his fine work.  He also makes some pretty rifles as well.  Send him and email and you will not be disappointed. mpearson@myhome.net

If your look for a set-up for a Remigton 700 short action I would sell you my ring and base set-up at a decent price and then I would get Marvin to make me a new bridge and base system that extended further forward so I did not have a bunch of scope hanging over the front ring.

The first and fourth pictures are set-ups from my rifles and the other pictures are one Marvin sent me when I was trying to decide what I wanted.

I would suggest looking at sites selling BLK but oriented to air-rifles, and look for riser blocks.  I would also look at the RWS or Beeman mount designed to adjust for air-rifle barrel "droop".  These mounts allow you to adjust the vertical angle of the scope, as well as some horizontal adjustment.  Cost is about $55.  They add height by their design.   My Beeman mount of this design measures sust uner one inch from the top of the action to the bottom of the scope.  Those combined with riser blocks might get you where you want.  Downside would be weight and the "ugly" --make that funky-- factor.

Man, those aren't scope rings and risers.  They are purely works of art.  Beautiful work.

Brownells carries the BLK rings and risers. They have online ordering and are very quick on delivery.   Al Foust

I have risers and mounts on the way as a last resort.  I'd really like a one-piece solution.
