Do you have pics of your Gunstocks Inc. makeover?
« on: March 10, 2005, 07:50:09 AM »
I have a 12ga. TDC barrel fitted to an SB2 frame and need a new stock set to go with it.  I'm contemplating a Gunstocks straight pistol grip buttstock and a Schnable forend in a laminate.  Their Brown/Brown laminate or the Autumn Laminate.  Their web site photos/color charts leave something to be desired.

Does anyone have "real" pictures that they'd like to post?  I've talked to them a couple of times and they are extremely nice and helpful.  But,... it's almost like buying unseen.  I'd like to get an idea of what the laminates look like before I purchase.

Thanks for the help.  Any other thoughts or words of wisdom about Gunstocks offerings?

What setup did you go with? :D

Similar to Mac's but not as nice as his. His stock is the bottom pic...he's got nicer wood, an installed Limbsaver and other options.

Here is a set I got from Gunstocks Inc. Mannlicher forend and a roll-over buttstock on a 45-70, don't have it finished or the nose cap put on.

Roostertails,
Now that is what I am talking about!!!  Did they just put one of your Mannlicher-style forearms in a stock duplicating machine?

quickdtoo, those are fantastic looking.  As soon as you get your project done, post some pictures,...please!!!

roostertails, what can I say!!  If that's a pic of the unfinished product, I can't wait to see the end result.  You must be happy as a pig in mud!!  Is that the Autumn Camo?

Thanks guys for the pics.  They look like really nice stock sets.

Mine should have been done by now, but for me to do finish work so it comes out nice, I have to be in the mood for it, and twix my other projects, it gets pushed to the back burner. Just finished a portable shooting table so I can do some range work away from the actual shooting range. Also the wife made me build her another book case for her sci-fi paperbacks, she just got thru counting them, almost an even 1000....sheesh!

I don't know if Stuffit will see this post, but here's the BC he's working on with a Gunstock Inc stock.

I'll let him post more, since I don't want to steal all of his thunder!

BC restock progress
« Reply #11 on: March 11, 2005, 08:55:37 AM »
All right, Paul,  Here are the other two shots of the BC stocking progress.  It still will get a couple more coats of Linspeed, and the buttstock juncture needs some careful fitting.  I have the barrel channel at a point where it fits, but thinking of a glass bedding job before I wind things up.

If anyone has an helpful hints on fitting the buttstock (like "foolproof" and "fail safe", I'd be oblidged of any input.  I'm getting out my wood rasps today for that part of the project.   Also looking for recommedations on a glass bedding kit, in case I decide to go this way.  Oh!  Did y'all get the necessary longer forend screw with the stocks, and if not, where did you find one.  I'm using a hardware store special at the present for fitting.

stuffit

after comment:  Right after I posted this, an envelope containing the needed forend screw arrive via snail mail from gunstocks.  Color me "impatient".

Lookin good!! I got the screw with mine, I'd email Ed and have em send it to you....although one should be found in the Ace or TrueValue flat head machine screw selection, may not be black, though, which is easy to remedy....

quickdtoo & roostertails,

They did send one.  I had called but I never take anything for granted, sometimes not even after it's in hand.  lol  But it arrived today right after my first post and I've already tried it and it is correct.  So onward and upward.  Into the breach, brave rifles......  etc.... off to the fitting.
