I have a renegade .50 bought back in 94. I was wondering the twist rate of that rifle and any loading suggestions for deer hunting.

TC's standard barrels have a 1:48" twist...I use the following deer hunting loads in my TC .50cal Hawken:

90grns Goex FFFg (3F)
Oxyoke wonderwad
.018" TC prelubed pillow ticking
Hornady .490

If they don't drop in their tracks, they fall within sight...outstanding caliber and deer hunting load

I believe all of the standard Renegade barrels had a 1:48 twist. If you don't have an owners manual, you can call or write to Thompson Center and they will send you one. That has load data for roundball and maxiball/maxihunters. 70 to 80 grains of FFg with .490 round ball and a .015 patch should shoot nicely.
